Providing Legal Guidance in Immigration Matters

Our attorneys not only understand the immigration system, but they were also immigrants once, too. If you are engaged in the immigration process, a seasoned lawyer can help you with visas, green cards, asylum, citizenship, naturalization, and deportation defense. Every case is unique, and we can provide solutions for your challenge. Contact us for a complimentary consultation, during which we can explain your rights and guide you through the immigration system. We stay current on fluctuating laws and will keep you current about how these changes affect you.

Your immigration journey begins by applying for status, a visa, or a green card, which could be as a refugee fleeing persecution or as a highly educated person with desirable skills. We assist you with your application and documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy that can raise your chance of approval. We can also work with the American consul processing your paperwork in your home country. Because our founders are immigrants married to each other, we are passionate about helping immigrant families reunite. And in this inflammatory immigration climate, we can represent you if you are facing deportation or removal.

Immigration is a planned journey based on your dream of living in a country that has always welcomed immigrants whose contributions have helped build the greatest country on earth. Wherever you are in your journey, contact Barrios Virguez Attorneys: Accident & Injury Law to be your guide.

    FAQs

You can sustain injuries in car accidents, slip and falls, dog bite cases, on someone’s property, and during recreational pursuits, but to prevail in a personal injury case, someone else must cause your injuries because they are negligent. Your attorney must prove the four elements of negligence: duty, breach, causation, and damages.

For example, in a car accident case, the other driver owes you a duty to drive safely, but breaches that duty if they drive recklessly and crash into you. If the crash is the foreseeable result of the reckless driving and you are injured in it, the elements of negligence are met.

The money you will be awarded after proving your losses is called compensatory damages, which are divided into economic and non-economic.

Economic damages are calculable losses, such as your medical bills, lost wages, and property damage. Non-economic damages compensate you for losses that do not come with a price tag, such as pain and suffering, emotional trauma, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life.

In rare cases, punitive damages may be awarded if the defendant’s acts are outrageous and highly disregard human life. Georgia caps punitive damages, which are meant to punish the wrongdoer.

The amount of time you have to file a personal injury case is called the Statute of Limitations and, in Georgia, it is two years from the date of the accident, with some exceptions. Your attorney needs time to gather and assess evidence, so the sooner you talk to one, the more successful the outcome will be.

Your family would rely on the same proof of negligence your loved one would have relied on for a personal injury lawsuit, but what you would be filing is a wrongful death claim.

You may be able to recover your deceased loved one’s future earnings instead of those lost during recuperation, and pain and suffering your loved one experienced after the accident but prior to death. You may also be eligible for the loss of companionship your loved one provided.
